Surge Arrester Description

When lightning surge arrester is under normal working voltage, the current flowing through the arrester is only micro-ampere, which is equivalent to an insulator. When it is over-voltage, the resistance of the arrester is drastically reduced, so that the current flowing through the arrester can be instantaneously increased to kiloampere, the arrester is conducting state, releasing the over-voltage energy, thereby effectively limiting the over-voltage damage to the transmission equipment.
